Angola finance minister: Sonangol acting "in a certain way" as an SWF

Thomson Reuters reports that The Portuguese business newspaper Jornal de Negocios on Tuesday quoted Angolan finance minister Jose Pedro Morais as saying that state-run oil company Sonangol was acting “in a certain way” as a sovereign wealth fund to boost economic development.

Thomson Reuters reports that, “China will provide an additional $135 million in financing to rebuild Angola’s electricity, water and road systems, expanding its stake in the oil-rich African nation, Angola’s state-run ANGOP news agency said on Friday.”

AFP reports that, “Oil-rich Angola, which survived a quarter century of civil war to transform itself into an African El Dorado for keen investors, has begun investing profits in Europe, starting with the former colonial power Portugal.”
