Institutional investors increase ownership of US companies to all-time high

Pensions & Investments reports that, “Ownership of the companies by U.S. institutional investors — including defined benefit pension funds, defined contribution retirement plans, investment companies, mutual funds, hedge funds, insurance companies, banks, foundations and endowments — is up from an average 67.9% in 2005, 61.4% in 2000 and 46.6% in 1987, according to [a report of the Conference Board released Sept. 2].”
